Frequently Asked Questions

1. When do the games start and finish?

For our recreation teams games will generally begin towards the last week of April or the first week of May and continue through until early July.

For the competitive teams their league season will generally follow the same schedule but may have tournaments starting as soon as March and going later into August or September.

2. Where are the games played?

Our recreation teams will play most of their games in Council Bluffs at the Sports Complex. However there are occasional games that are played in surrounding communities.

Competitive teams will play their league season in Omaha. Most Tournaments will be played fairly close but they could go to tournaments outside of the surrounding area.

3. What equipment does the player need?

All athletes playing for Eagles Youth Sports Association are required to purchase their own batting helmet (red, blue or black absolutely no pink) with face shield, and their own glove.

We strongly recommend that each athlete also purchase and wear sliders and face cages. Trust us, these two purchases are worth every penny.

Also, each team will have a few "team" bats, but we encourage that each athlete purchases their own bat. Please talk with a coach before purchasing a bat so we can make sure you purchase the right size and weight for your athlete.

4. What is the fee for playing?

For the 2010 season we have two levels of play. Recreation teams will cost $75 and the competitive teams will cost $275. This fee will cover the basics such as training, clinics, training facilities, uniform and an end of season get together. We include tournament fees for one tournament in the cost of the recreation teams, however if the team decides to play in additional tournaments there will be additional costs. Competitive teams already have several tournaments figured into the cost, but there may be occasion when extra cost could arise.

6. Are there fundraisers to help in the cost of the fees for the player?

Absolutely! Our goal has always been to keep the cost for playing as affordable as possible, and we never turn anyone away who wants to play. We do have several fundraising opportunities each year to help the athlete defray some of the costs. Some examples include; obtaining individual sponsors, pancake feed, car washes etc. All funds raised by the athlete will first go towards paying their registration fees, then additional funds above that level go to the individual teams to help them purchase needed equipment or to pay for additional tournaments. At the end of the season any funds that remain will go to CBEYSA for general expenses and improvements in the program.

7. When and where are the practices?

While we are still in the colder months we will practice inside. We have several locations that we use, such as the gym at Kirn JR High, the gym at Community of Christ, clinics at The Next Level and occasionally at other locations as necessary. Once the weather warms up a little we get dirty outside. CBEYSA rents fields from the City of Council Bluffs, City of Crescent and Lewis Central for those practices. For specific times and locations you can always check this website. Practice, game and team function schedules are posted for every team in both viewable format and printable format.

8. What are the age divisions?

For the 2010 season CBEYSA has several options available depending on the age and experience level of your athlete.

For Softball we have competitive teams in the 14U and 12U categories. For recreational teams we have 12U and 10U teams. Depending on demand we will always try to accommodate other age groups as needed.

For Baseball we have 12U and 10U for both recreation and competitive levels of play.

9. How often are there games and how many games are played?

Good question, and again this depends on whether your athlete plays recreation or competitive level.

For recreational teams plan on playing approximately 20 games during league play and one tournament. Generally these teams will play one game per week, but could be more depending on rainouts and league scheduling. Rarely will they play more than 2 games in any given week. Tournament play can be as few as 2 games, and as many as 6 or 7.

Competitive teams will play up to 30 games in league play, and most of those will be double headers. These teams generally play one night per week. Tournaments will add 5-8 games on a weekend.
